Feed the Bees Add-On is pretty cool

I heard about Feed The Beast’s resources bees mod quite a bit ago, and have wanted to try it since. However, since I don’t play a lot of Java anymore it has kind of gone to the way side. Recently, I noticed Eckosoldier has been doing review videos on Bedrock add-ons.

He reviewed another Feed The Beast add-on I had been interested in, Tinker’s Construct (which now has a Lite version for free) but the follow up video was for Feed The Bees! I love a good pun and I’ve got a fondness in my heart for minecraft bees so I watched it.

It had me interested enough to try it out at the same time as Tinker’s Construct. I focused on Tinker’s Construct at first but when I started working on the Bees I was hooked. There are 128 (maybe more now) resource bees in the game. Some of them can be captured by flying around, but many can only be found via breeding and/or the wandering beekeeper.

It was a little slow going at first. Getting some starter bees and my world spawn didn’t make it easy to find some vanilla bees (which are helpful for really getting going). However, once I started working with them enough to get some resources for trading the beekeeper, I went on an adventure to find new bees and wandering beekeepers to trade with. I only found one new bee via wandering around but I did a lot of trading and got a good stash to start working with for breeding back at home.

Once I started breeding the bees, I noticed a familiar feeling to another game I’ve put hundreds of hours into. The game is Civilization (latest version is 6 but I’ve played every version since 2) and I was feeling similar to the one more turn feeling. Only now, it was breeding one more bee. Many hours went by as I did this work.

I love bees and might bring this add-on into future seasons of Derp & Chill (if all my community can utilize the add-on) but for now, I’ll play with it on my own along with Tinker’s Construct and the Storage Drawers add-ons, also from Feed the Beast.
